Review & #Giveaway – A Cajun Christmas Killing by Ellen Byron @ellenbyronla #5jinglebells #cozy

Rachael's Review:

Another dead body. Just another day in the Bayou for budding sleuth Magnolia Crozat. In the 3rd Cajun Country mystery, Ellen Byron once again cooks up a laugh out loud page turner that's as yummy as Ninette Crozat's Holiday Brandy Pain Perdu. Maggie Crozat is home for the holidays playing mistress of the Doucet Plantation to the tune of her new manager’s fiddle and helping out at her own family's B&B. Not a moment too soon, given that her family is sick with stress—the trouble is that the Crozat Plantation B & B is being targeted. It isn't long before Maggie and hunky boyfriend Bo Durand dig in, seeking out a mysterious Internet troll who is writing damaging reviews about all of her uncle's properties. What they find at the heart of the matter is a ruthless financier intent on acquiring the Crozat estate. Sadly, (but not really) that financier ends up dead, which lands Maggie and Bo on the suspect list. From irrational reviews to bursting bonfires and crusty guests, the sleigh bells are jingling, and the clock is ticking for Maggie and Rufus, who must catch the killer. Ellen Byron’s Cajun Country mysteries are delightful and addictive. I can't wait for the next book.
I give this five glorious bonfires a burning. ~ Author Rachael Stapleton

Cozy Mystery 3rd in Series Crooked Lane Books (October 10, 2017) Hardcover: 304 pages ISBN-13: 978-1683313052 E-Book ASIN: B06XW23LPG
Maggie Crozat is back home in bayou country during the most magical time of the year. In Pelican, Louisiana, Christmastime is a season of giant bonfires on the levee, zydeco carols, and pots of gumbo. Except, this year, the Grinch has come to stay at the family-run Crozat Plantation B&B. When he floods travel websites with vicious reviews, Maggie thinks she’s identified him as rival businessman Donald Baxter. That is, until he’s found stabbed to death at Maggie’s workplace. And Maggie and her loved ones become top suspects. The Crozats quickly establish alibis, but Maggie’s boyfriend, Detective Bo Durand, remains under suspicion. With Bo sidelined during the investigation, Maggie finds herself forced to work with an unlikely ally: longtime family enemy Rufus Durand. Her sleuthing uncovers more suspects than drummers drumming, and lands her in the crosshairs of the murderer. The sleigh bells are jingling, and the clock is ticking for Maggie and Rufus, who must catch the killer or it will be the opposite of a Joyeux Noël in A Cajun Christmas Killing, the recipe-stuffed third installment of USA Today bestselling author Ellen Byron’s Cajun Country mysteries.

New Review *Five Star Free Range Fun

A.B Funkhauser's Shell Game

  • Publisher: Solstice Publishing (September 12, 2017)
  • Publication Date: September 12, 2017
  • Sold by: Amazon Digital Services LLC
  • Language: English
  • ASIN: B075M1K43Z

A smart and hilarious novel that delivers constant chuckles and an onslaught of outlandish situations piling up around neighbors Bronagh and Poonam in the sleepy town of Pictontown on the Downs.

The best part is when Sils Banks, Animal Control Officer for Pictontown on the Downs attends a swinger’s party and meets gossip columnist, Goddess Moonbow who decides that Sils should be treated as one of the animals. In other words, Sils is caged like one of her stray cats. From here on out, the story is fast-paced and hilarious as Sils comes up with a plan to exact revenge and expose the true happenings of this sleepy little town. This book is stuffed with precious one-liners and humorous set ups.

The characters are colorful, the pacing breathtaking, and the atmosphere of the tiny town, with all its political drama and kinky sex, rings ludicrously entertaining. A.B Funkhauser’s writing is delightful and addictive. I can't wait for the next installment. ~ The Mysterious Ink Spot
